Prospective High School Students
Who May Apply
Applicants must meet all three:
Oklahoma Resident
Applicants must be Oklahoma residents.
In the Right Grade
8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade students no later than Dec. 31 of the senior year. All students must apply before their official high school graduation date.
Homeschool & non-accredited
Homeschool students, students who attend non-accredited high schools, and students who are educated by other means must apply for Oklahoma’s Promise before their 18th birthday or their official high school graduation date – whichever comes first. All students must apply before their official high school graduation date.Within the Income Limit
Student whose parents' federal adjusted gross income does not exceed:
- $60,000 with 1 or 2 dependent children OR
- $70,000 with 3 or 4 dependent children OR
- $80,000 with 5 or more dependent children.
Provisional Exception
Homeschool students who turned 18 after July 1, 2025
Homeschool students who turned 18 after July 1, 2025, and have not yet graduated may still be eligible to apply for Oklahoma's Promise. These applications will be reviewed and processed as an exception to our standard deadline.
Special Income Provisions
Special provisions may apply to families outside standard income limits:
- Children of a certified public classroom teacher employed in Oklahoma for a minimum of 10 years.
- Children adopted from certain Oklahoma court-ordered custody and children in the custody of court-appointed legal guardians.
- Taxable Social Security benefits based on the death or disability of the student's parent(s).
Application Deadline
DEC 31 2026
Applications must be electronically submitted or postmarked by Dec. 31, 2026, for students who are in the 12th grade during the 2026-27 school year. All applications must be electronically submitted and/or postmarked before their official high school graduation date.
Encouraged for 8th–11th Grades
Students in the 8th–11th grades are encouraged to apply by June 30, 2026.
Homeschool Deadline
Homeschool applications must be electronically submitted or postmarked before the student's 18th birthday.
DHS Custody Exception
Students placed into Oklahoma DHS custody during the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade who were unable to enroll in the program may enroll prior to their official date of high school graduation.
